Book Review

I received an email a few weeks back from a teacher of internal arts in Israel named Jonathan Bluestein. Jonathan was reaching out to the martial community in order to raise awareness regarding the release of his new book titled “Research of Martial Arts”. So I emailed him back and then he offered to send me a copy of his book to read which I received just over a week later.

First off I want to acknowledge Jonathan for his dedication and passion regarding the arts. He said it took him over five years to compile, edit and publish this 400+ page effort.

Jonathan has made a very valuable contribution to the arts by not only compiling dozens if not hundreds of worthwhile photos, anecdotes, poems, teachings and interviews but has also contributed significantly with his own deep insights.

This book investigates many mainstay martial concepts such as the differences between the external arts and the internal arts, the role of structure and the mind as well as many, many facets of training specific to the internal arts.

I personally really enjoyed his interview section where he published his conversations with a few of the world’s contemporary masters. There are quite a few gems in this section alone that make the purchase of this book worthwhile.

Overall the book is well conceived, edited and certainly full of great information. I would highly recommend this book without hesitation to anyone who wants to swim in the ocean we call Martial Arts.

You can purchase it directly from Jonathan right here

Cheers
