Practice pays off

Here's a email I recieved yesterday discribing an experience that was lived rather than reacted to...
We train to be the "center of the wheel".

"As I headed for work on Friday morning, I had one of those incredible moments that you and Dave talk about. I was excited to see you tonight to tell you all about it. Weather provided me with an incredible story and weather robbed me of going to class and sharing.

As I came upon the top of Ann Street, I noticed that the cars at the bottom of the hill had their emergency lights on, somehow this caught my attention. Didn't know why...
Almost instantly I realized that my car was sliding and I had no control over where it was going.

I relaxed into the steering wheel and proceeded to follow a zig zag pattern from one side of the lane to the other side of the lane. Very calmly I observed, that there were no other cars in front of me or behind me and I remember thanking God for this miracle.

As I was moving down the hill, the slip and slide very quickly became more than just that and I knew that I was slowly going into more than a zig zag.  Now, I was "driving" backwards and sliding down the other side of the road, I saw that there were cars on the top of the hill where I had been a few seconds ago. There were three and they were coming down.

Time to make another turn, this time driving forward on the wrong side of the road. I saw a bus on top of the 400 Hwy bridge coming head on towards me, the driver was surely slowing down and watching the show. I thought to my self, they are all watching me, shaking their heads in disbelief. For sure they are going to be moving very slowly indeed.

I was almost at the bottom of the hill when I regained control of my car.  I had a red light and like a flash I remembered the cars that were in that spot just moments before my experience.  All I could do was put my emergency lights on, take a long and deep breath and continue on my way to work.

Thinking about it later, I remember absolutely everything that I felt and saw. Not because I lived the experience, but rather because I witnessed the whole thing with complete detachment. No tension, no panic, no rush decisions, just living the moment and giving into it without doubts."
