Fa Jin Training

Basic Jin Training

Jin means trained force
Fa Jin means to direct explosive power
The power comes from the inside out

The keys are as follows:
Keep the root
Lead the qi
Complete the intention
Back to centre

Fa Jin training is an advanced practice that will be taught to students who have completed the open hand forms. This training not only increases your speed and power but it has great impact on your root. While Fa Jin is not very recognizable in Yang style forms I can assure you that by adding this training to your practice you will enhance your comprehension of the forms and increase your energy.

Three levels of Fa Jin power

Ming Jin - visable force
One step above external power, using large circles, forced storage of energy and gross movement of Qi.
It trains the body in generation of high levels of force with minimal muscular effort.
It trains the mind in the acceptance of soft force.

An Jin - hidden force
A refinement of Ming Jin through two approaches.
1 - gradual reduction of the gross movements reducing the effort required in the storage and release of the energy
2 - reduction of gross movement to be almost imperceptable while increasing the effort to store and release the energy
eventually a combination of these two approaches will be applied by the student

Hua Jin - perfect force
Elimination of motion required in the storage and emission of Qi.
The storage and release of Qi is completely accomplished through visualization using only mental capacities.
The minute muscular movement generate by the visualizations will be imperceptable.
At the highest level, it is Qi being guided by the Ancient mind at the discretion of the Wisdom mind.
